About the local area
Located in southeast lower Michigan, Mount Clemens is the county seat of Macomb County. The area is home to an after-market auto parts industry, Sanders Candy Factory and Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The Clinton River passes through the city as it makes its way to nearby Lake Saint Clair. Recreational facilities include Lake Saint Clair Metropark, a municipal marina, one of the states oldest public library’s, and the Mount Clemens Ice Arena. Come for a visit and stay awhile!
Macomb County is a recreational delight with public golf courses, parks and 31 miles of shoreline along Lake Saint Clair. Macomb County is also home to three parks in the Huron-Clinton Metroparks network, a regional park system along the Huron and Clinton Rivers. A colorful mix of cider mills, orchards and farmers' markets come to life every fall in picturesque northern Macomb County. The area has a rich historical and architectural legacy with historic homes and buildings and centennial farms having been recognized by the Michigan Historical Commission.
